Sugar Scrubs using Liquid Coconut Oil
Not only is this oil an amazing and healthy substitute to use in the kitchen but is also perfect to make face and body scrubs.
Using natural ingredients like brown sugar and liquid coconut oil will give you all the benefits of exfoliation and moisturizer without clogging up your pores and leaving your skin oily.
If you like your scrubs a little firmer there is no reason why you cannot keep this in the fridge. Perfect during the summer time or those warmer months.
I have been using this on my face a couple of times a week for quite a while now. The scrub does a great job exfoliating and leaves my skin feeling super-hydrated and smooth. The back of the hands is also a great place to use this product.
Another great benefit of making your own products is that it’s very inexpensive. You also know exactly what you're putting on your skin and no hidden nasties.
I also love my essential oils so I try to incorporate these into my everyday life and it helps that I can add these to products like these. The addition of essential oils not only lend a natural fragrance to the scrubs, but also provide different skincare and aroma therapeutic benefits.
This is the recipe I like to use.
Depending on the size of the container I generally make up a cup 250g at a time.
250g brown raw sugar
70mls Liquid Coconut oil
⅓ cup of dried rose petals
5 Drops of Rose Essential oil or 1 Tsp Rose Water
20 Drops teaspoon Vitamin E
Mix Liquid Coconut oil, Vitamin E and Rose Water or Rose Essential oil.

Place Sugar and rose petals into a food processor and blitz until combined. Then combine the two.

Once mixed then place into an airtight container.
