Making Homemade Lip Balm
Creating your own Lip balm is easier than you think
In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the environmental impact of single-use plastic packaging. By making your own lip balms, you can choose to package them in reusable or recyclable containers, reducing your reliance on plastic and contributing to a more sustainable future. Additionally, homemade lip balms make thoughtful and eco-friendly gifts for friends and family, spreading the message of sustainability and self-care.
Why buy lip balm when it’s easy to make your own. I love making my own products because I know exactly what’s in them.
Whip these cute little lip balm tubes up in just 5 minutes. If you're a serious DIY-ER like me then you would have a cupboard full of ingredients. I just made up enough for two tubes, one for me and one Miss 12. If you want to make larger quantities just adjust your measurements.
Here’s what you need!
1 Level tsp Organic Coconut Oil
1 Level tsp Shea butter
1 Heaped tsp Beeswax Pellets
5ml Lip balm tubes
Microwave safe bowl
Your favourite essential oils (my Choice of oils! are Young Living Lavender essential oil is a good choice since it has antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Another one I like to use is Peppermint essential oil for its cooling sensation.)
Here’s what I did!
Add all ingredients to a small microwave safe bowl.
Microwave on 60% power for 1 minute. Then in 30 second increments until it turns to liquid.
Add 4-6 drops of your favourite essential oil.
Using a pipette carefully fill each tube and set aside to set. Approximately 10 minutes.
Enjoy Making these easy lip balms. Perfect for gifts or a great class to teach your friends.
