Creating your own Lip balm is easier than you think

In today's fast-paced world, taking a moment for self-care is paramount. Amidst the hustle and bustle, we often neglect the little things, like caring for our lips. Our lips, delicate and sensitive, deserve attention and nourishment just like the rest of our skin. While the market offers a plethora of lip care products, there's something uniquely satisfying about creating your own lip balms. Not only does it allow you to tailor the ingredients to your preferences, but it also presents numerous benefits for your lips and overall well-being.

  • Personalization and Customization:

    • Craft your lip balm with ingredients tailored to your preferences, including essential oils for fragrance.
    • Control the texture, scent, and colour to create a lip balm that brings joy with every use.
  • Natural Ingredients for Healthier Lips:

    • Choose natural and organic ingredients such as beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, and essential oils.
    • Enjoy the nourishing benefits of natural ingredients without synthetic additives or preservatives.
  • Cost-Effective and Sustainable:

    • Save money by making multiple batches of lip balm with basic ingredients.
    • Minimize waste by reusing containers and purchasing ingredients in bulk, promoting a sustainable lifestyle.
  • Creative Expression and Relaxation:

    • Explore endless possibilities by experimenting with different ingredients, colours, and scents.
    • Engage in a therapeutic and relaxing activity, reducing stress and promoting mindfulness.
  • A Sustainable Alternative:

    • Opt for reusable or recyclable packaging, reducing reliance on single-use plastic.
    • Spread the message of sustainability by gifting homemade lip balms to friends and family.

In conclusion, crafting your own lip balms is not only a fun and rewarding activity but also offers numerous benefits for your lips and overall well-being. From personalization and customization to using natural ingredients and promoting sustainability, making your own lip balms allows you to nourish your lips while embracing creativity and mindfulness. So why not embark on this nourishing journey and treat yourself to the luxury of handmade lip care? Your lips—and your soul—will thank you for it.

In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the environmental impact of single-use plastic packaging. By making your own lip balms, you can choose to package them in reusable or recyclable containers, reducing your reliance on plastic and contributing to a more sustainable future. Additionally, homemade lip balms make thoughtful and eco-friendly gifts for friends and family, spreading the message of sustainability and self-care.

Why buy lip balm when it’s easy to make your own. I love making my own products because I know exactly what’s in them.

Whip these cute little lip balm tubes up in just 5 minutes. If you're a serious DIY-ER like me then you would have a cupboard full of ingredients. I just made up enough for two tubes, one for me and one Miss 12. If you want to make larger quantities just adjust your measurements.

 Here’s what you need!

1 Level tsp Organic Coconut Oil

1 Level tsp Shea butter

1 Heaped tsp Beeswax Pellets

5ml Lip balm tubes

A plastic pipette

Microwave safe bowl

Your favourite essential oils (my Choice of oils! are Young Living Lavender essential oil is a good choice since it has antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Another one I like to use is Peppermint essential oil for its cooling sensation.)

 Here’s what I did!

Add all ingredients to a small microwave safe bowl.

Microwave on 60% power for 1 minute. Then in 30 second increments until it turns to liquid.

Add 4-6 drops of your favourite essential oil.

Using a pipette carefully fill each tube and set aside to set. Approximately 10 minutes.

Enjoy Making these easy lip balms. Perfect for gifts or a great class to teach your friends.
